During the trial the prosecution showed pictures of Billy with a bite on his arm and scratch on his chest. Rebecca Ferguson led the jury to believe this was somehow related to Lesa’s murder, scoffing at the notion that a dog could have caused the injury. The scratch and bite on Billy’s arm were caused by Billy’s own dog the day they found Lesa, not the night of her murder. Billy and others were playing with a football in the water when his dog got upset at the activities, and was swimming toward one of the other players. Billy stepped in front of the other person resulting in Billy getting a nasty bite on the arm and was scratched on his chest area.

In addition-keep in mind, Lesa’s fingernails were clipped, were in perfect shape, and had no DNA under them. The evidence shows she did not scratch the assailant anyway.

Attached is a statement from a well known neighbor of Aggregates that shows his involvement in bandaging up Billy’s arm on Sunday due to the bite. That statement also brings out that Billy did not initiate the swim to the center of the lake to “lure” anyone to the body. Bruce Kessler had mentioned to Billy’s brother and others that if you swam to the middle of the lake, there was an area shallow enough to stand. After seeing his brother do it, Billy and the others tried as well.

Bruce Kessler was not used as a witness in the court proceedings. When Billy’s father inquired as to why, he was told by Steve Hobbs that Bruce’s mother was an employee at the court house and did not want her son involved!
